A letter to my body

A letter to my body

A letter to my body,

My body. It’s not overly pretty. At least I don’t think so anyways. My wide rib cage connects to my rounded stomach that connects to my hips that curve in and out. That’s not normal. Is it?

I think my body is beautiful. Not because I think it looks attractive, but because the way it functions is beautiful. My body is so much more than what it looks like, it is how it moves and works that allow me to see beauty, and for that it is beautiful.

My legs carry me up mountains. I can look down from the tippy top, feeling proud of myself while I admire how beautiful the world is.

My brain allows me to imagine. I can paint entirely new worlds in my head and make them however I want and I can share the beauty of them with others.

My stomach keeps me warm. I can stay outside at night, talking about life and skipping with my friends, enjoying the rush of youth with others.

My arms and hands create art. I can play the most intricate music, draw a breathtaking image, write a beautiful story, all my thoughts are visualised with my hands.

I may not think you’re beautiful, but I promise to work towards it. You allow me to experience the beauty of the world and over time, I will see the beauty in you too. Thank you body. Thank you for being strong and powerful. Thank you for helping me feel emotions and help others. I am so grateful for you, and think you are a work of art which deserves to be taken care of.
